Styled SHOOT | The Whim | January 2022

We designed our Monochromatic Matrimony styled shoot with the goal of creating something modern, moody, and minimalistic without sacrificing the romance. We chose a crisp and clean greyscale color palette to reflect the colors of Minneapolis in January. Monochromatic, neutral weddings have been popular for some time now, but we wanted to show a different, elevated version of the classic black + white wedding.

Our second goal is one we aim for when planning every styled shoot at Availed – to foster creativity among all of our vendor partners. Wedding professionals rarely get to go outside of the box as it is our job to bring our clients' visions to life. We believe that in a styled shoot setting, everyone should get their chance to play and shine!

The Whim provided the perfect backdrop for moody photos, with its white walls and natural light that floods in all day through the south-facing windows. In the absence of color, we found that adding texture made our design so much more visually stimulating. We clothed the table in textured linens from Linen Effects, added acrylic chairs, then covered our texture bases with concrete, metal, glass, and paper elements. Felicia at Florology put together this beautiful hanging installation to bring in just enough whimsy and fluff without taking away from the minimalist vibe. We chose the matte black flatware and stoneware from Rudy’s Event Rentals to elevate our place settings from the standard offerings.

We chose the Colt arbor and display from Collected & Co. to play off of the black accents and clean lines throughout the venue. Brandi at Hunt Wright Design Co. designed beautiful signs and stationery with bold fonts and brought in a touch of customization with the playful wording. Leah at Ink Sweets made a sleek cake with matte, two-tone fondant. The neon sign from Nalias Events was a trendier choice for this design, but we love that modern couples are choosing neon signs for personalized wedding décor that can be used after their wedding day!

Styled by Abbi gave our bridal model, Victoria, clean yet sultry eye makeup paired with sleek wavy hair. Victoria posed in this modest, caped dress from The White Room, perfect for a January wedding in Minnesota. Will acted as our groom, showing off a sleek tuxedo and velour loafers from MartinPatrick 3. After a quick outfit change, they were ready for their pretend after party, with Victoria in a jumpsuit and Ariana Grande-inspired mini veil and Will trading out his accessories for a more relaxed look. We completed their looks with earrings from a.b. Ellie and wedding rings from Wixon Jewelers.

Choosing the right photo and video team can truly change the way your wedding – or photoshoot – is portrayed. Hayley Huotari and Courtney Rae Jensen helped us achieve a moody vibe without making it feel dark or cold. We are so thankful for our entire vendor team for bringing our vision to life!
